Following the bet with the franchise business director the whole team responded to the challenge with great enthusiasm and everyone rolled up their sleeves to help with any task that needed to be done in preparation for the final visit from the franchise business director (FBD), the person you may recall I had placed the bet of a bottle of Dom Perignon.
The day of the inspection did not get off to a great start as we had “misplaced” an important piece of paperwork. Whilst someone was “dispatched” to find the missing paperwork we continued to work through the checklist. At the end of the day and a lot of frantic activity we still had a few items outstanding. With only one day to go to opening we had to have everything in place for what would now be the final visit, which was the actual day of the hotel opening.
All the staff continued to work until everything was complete and Intercontinental Hotel Group granted the final approval on the day of opening 29th August 2008 when we officially became the Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre. Not only did we win the bet the hotel looks absolutely stunning, although it’s fair to say I could be a little biased so please come along and try it for yourself!

Bob, The Hotel looks great, I am sure it will be a great addition to the Manchester hotel scene, I wish you good luck with it.
